Welcome to heartlinks...a website designed to help those recovering from open heart surgery
Our Mission: After a diagnosis of heart disease and coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery, patients and families often have serious concerns and strong feelings. They frequently question why they became ill, how to prevent future problems and what their future recovery path will look like. Communication is key to coping. The Heartlinks Program seeks to inspire rapid recovery from open heart surgery and to improve the quality of life for heart disease patients and their families through peer-to-peer support.
Heartlinks volunteers sharing on this website have all recovered from open heart surgery and prospered in their new lives. We believe that sharing our experiences and urging you to share yours will ease the road to recovery. To do this, we visit patients face-to-face each year during their hospital stays after open heart surgery and communicate with others through the website and public appearances. Our goal is to ease patient anxiety and help those affected by heart disease to have a positive experience in recovery.
